Mike Hampton in the win column, ladies and gentlemen. Personally, it tickled me to see him out there throwing that sinker for strikes last night and really pitching well. Been a long time coming, and I'm happy as I can be for him.

In a long, dreadful season -- one that took a tragic turn with the passing of Skip on Sunday -- Hampton gave us reason to smile last night.

Bud.

We lost a great one last night, folks. Rest in peace, Skip. God bless you and your family. The Voice of the Braves, and the voice of my youth, now silenced.

Yeah, you know it's not going to be a good day when Omar Infante is batting cleanup.

Charlie Morton's game today I thought was the first time he actually looked like he belonged in the majors. Seriously, who doesn't give a HR up to Prince Fielder now and then.

I was actually surprised to see Ring get DFAed. I know he's been struggling lately, but for the most part he was very effective as lefty specialist.

See ya bye, Corky, and take Royce Ring with ya! Ring and his 31.50 ERA designated for assignment.

10 games under .500 for the first time in two years. 10 games out of first place. Morton threw it really well, but Sabathia was good and the Braves' offense was punchless for the most part.

Sigh ... gonna be a long final two months.
