Mark Teixeira is a Bobblehead

Atlanta 11, New York Mets 4. Among rumors swirling around that another sweep by the Braves might be the end of Willie Randolph’s tenure in Queens, the Braves absolutely crushed the hapless Metropolitans tonight. It was a great day for a great win as Bobby Cox and I were both celebrating our birthdays. It was also a great day because it was Mark Teixeira bobblehead night at Turner Field. Tex continued his return to the swing of things by going 3-5, 2R, 3RBIs. You’ve got to honor the bobblehead.

Mark Teixeira is a Bobblehead

Chipper saw nothing but balls in his first two plate appearances and went 3-1 on his third before sending one into the bleachers off Pelfrey in the 5th. Come on, Pelfrey, you had it right the first two times.

Apparently all Frenchy needed was a night off, as he exploded back onto the scene, stealing KJs triple mojo and going 3-4 with a triple, a HR, and 4 RBIs.

Your Daily Kotsay

Mark Kotsay went 0-6. Wow! That’s just heinous. Not many people get to go 0-6.

There Will Be Blood

While I think Ryan Church’s slide into Yunel yesterday was just good clean hardball, what’s not good clean hardball is the four players the Mets have already hit with pitches in this series. Pedro Feliciano plunked KJ and Gregor Blanco last night. Mike Pelfrey got Francoeur tonight.

Finally, Scott Showenweis hit Chipper in the seventh, knocking him out of the game. Tex, on his big bobblehead night, made him pay by plating three with a triple. The fans on hand weren’t satisfied with that, though. I don’t think anything but Showenweis’ head on a plate would have sated them.

The Mets are obviously in disarray right now, and I don’t think any of those were intentional. But four in three games is absolutely ridiculous. And injurying our number one guy is something we shouldn’t stand for.

Darwin Award

Somebody managed to knock themselves off falling over a railing at Turner Field last night. I like the quote from the AJC:

Alcohol may have been involved.

No shit alcohol may have been involved. I’ve already seen several drunken douchebags come perilously close to falling over the railings this year. And there have been several drunken douchebags that I’ve come perilously close to helping over the railings this year. So, yeah, I would definitely believe that alcohol may have been involved.

My Tex bobble head is missing a bat so if you find it next time you’re in 435… let me know.

It’ll be small and just now getting hot in the middle of May.
