Adding to the One-Run Bandwagon and Today in Kotsay
The Braves lost another one-run game tonight to the Denver Nuggets. All five of our losses have now been in one-run games. There has been a lot of talk about this in the Braves media and on the Braves interwebs. Here are a couple of interesting facts that you may not have noticed about these one-run games:
- In all of these games, the Braves offense has scored fewer runs than the other team over the course of the game.
- In all of these games, the Braves pitching staff has given up more runs than the other team over the course of the game.
Think about it.
Kotsay finally went yard today. He’s put a charge into several balls that came up just short in Atlanta this year, so it’s good to see he finally got out of the park.
The Schafer thing was unexpected, but it’s not a huge tragedy. He’s going to miss some seasoning time in Mississippi, but he wasn’t going to have any effect on the big club this year. Bobby thought he was ready this year and there’s no reason to think he still won’t be ready next year. Talking Chop points out that this happened to prospect Tyler Flowers as well with no ill effects. I’m mostly curious about how he got busted.
