Atlanta 10, Pittsburgh 2. This was the sort of quick, definitive win we were hoping to see after the game on Monday night. Jair Jurrjens was very impressive through the first five, K-ing 5 and keeping all the Pirates’ hitters off balance, but he unraveled quickly in the 6th. The bullpen was much better tonight than last, but my stomach was still aflutter until our offense exploded for 7 in the eighth, putting this one away.

What else?

  • If Yunel keeps up this pace, he’s going to have a huge season. The pounds he added over the off season appear to be paying off in more power. Eat it, Yunel haters.
  • The two bats that we really needed to come to life finally did. Both Diaz and Mark “Double Play” Teixeira went yard.
  • Manny Acosta redeemed himself. But Bobby pulled both Moylan and Ring again for Lefty-Righty matchups, even though both were pitching well. Combining that with 5 inning starts is not the way to keep the staff fresh through 162.
